This is a basic pine wood bangle purchased on eBay. I wanted to make a present for a friend's daughter and thought I would try a little decoupage to decorate the bangle.
The wood seemed slightly rough so I used sandpaper first followed by several coats of Gesso. I had bought some decorated rice paper so I just cut out the areas I wanted and just used PVA to stick them down with a coat of PVA on top. I wanted to have some raised areas to add dimension but trying to use my stencils on the curved surface just didn't work. I had an idea that I could use some of the blank areas of the rice paper sheets. I had some tubs of Tonic Nuvo Embelishment Mousse that I wanted to use as it is wonderful stuff. I used a Creative Expressions stencil (Fleur de Lis) and a Tim Holtz stencil (Flourishes). it worked really well once decoupaged onto the bangle. I enjoyed it very much so now have three more waiting to be decorated. Watch this space.
